You can’t just plant seeds and expect them to grow into trees or plants on their own. In order for them to live long, healthy lives and provide you with the resources you need, they need care from a gardener like yourself.

In order for your seedlings to become successful adults (or adults at all), they will need water and fertilizer. Watering is pretty straightforward: simply combine 1 unit of water with 10 units of dirt in a crafting bench to make an irrigation system. You can use this tool on any plants that are thirsty!

Fertilizing is more complicated than watering; it requires some preparation beforehand. First, you need 8 units of bone meal (which you can find by killing animals).
