Q. Is there a learning curve to using the Dirt eRacer?
A. While there is not really a learning curve, it does take a few washes to get more comfortable to a different way of washing. Your technique will quickly improve as you use the Dirt eRacer… just like with any change of habit.
Q. Do I need to pre-rinse the vehicle before using the Dirt eRacer?
A. Generally this is not needed, as the flowing soap and water mixture does this as you wash. It can’t hurt to give a quick pre-rinse if the vehicle has a mud or winter road salt on it. Flip the sponge over from time to time as you wash. This is part of the sponge self-cleaning process.
Q. How long should I expect the sponge component last before replacing it?
A. The sponge life expectancy will vary depending on how careful you are when going over rougher surfaces such as emblems, grills, wipers, license plate edges or other rough components that can lead to small tears in the sponge. Testing yielded at least 60 to 70 vehicle washes before wanting to change out the sponge. We sell a preconfigured replacement sponge head that’s easy to swap out.
Q. Where is the Dirt eRacer made?
A. The Dirt eRacer is personally assembled, inspected and packaged by me (the inventor/seller) in my home-based shop out of St. Louis, Missouri, USA. I take great pride in providing a quality product and with mostly U.S. components.
Q. How do I store the unit?
A. We recommend storing the on/off valve and the entire quick-connect components with the sponge and hose. Store the unit anywhere out of direct sunlight… inside is best. Make sure there is adequate air around the unit so it can dry (no bags or storage containers).

Q. What testing was done to make sure it’s safe for my paint?
A. The sponge itself has a solid track record with car enthusiasts as part of the ONR wash method. We have also used the Dirt eRacer on our own vehicles since 2014 with great results. Lastly the unit excelled during the exaggerated scratch test known as the “CD Scratch Test”. We have a video of this test.
Q. How long will it take to wash my vehicle using the Dirt eRacer?
A. The wash time will vary based on the vehicle size and how long since your last wash. After a little practice it generally takes around 10 minutes or less (excluding the wheels and drying the car which are not in scope for the Dirt eRacer tool).
Q. Can I adjust how much soap comes out during the wash step?
A. There are no adjustments on the device itself to regulate the soap flow, because it isn’t necessary. However, using thick premium car soap tends to work best and for a longer period. You can also dilute the thicker soaps by roughly 10% to 15% to get additional suds flowing more quickly.
Q. Is it okay to use the Dirt eRacer on the wheels?
A. No it should not be used on wheels. The shape and size of the sponge would not effectively clean the wheels. More importantly the brake dust would quickly contaminate the sponge making it unusable for your vehicles paint
